One of the big topics of conversation around the NFL this year is the supposed decline in Television ratings. While I can assure you that I am not watching any less football, apparently people out there are viewing fewer games than they have since HD TV came into our homes.
There have been a number of different explanations as to why this is the case. First people wanted to blame concussions and then some lunatics wanted to pin it on Colin Kaepernick and player protests.
To me the reason for the drop-off in TV numbers has become overwhelmingly obvious while watching 10 hours of football every Sunday. When I flip to RedZone at 1 PM this Sunday, these are most of the quarterbacks I am going to see;
Tom Savage, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Brett Hundley, Jacoby Brissett, Trevor Simien/Brock Osweiler, Matt Moore, Josh McCown, Blake Bortles, Blaine Gabbert, Mitch Trubisky, Deshone Kizer, CJ Beathard, Joe Flacco and Geno Smith.
In a quarterback driven league, half of the teams starting quarterbacks can’t even spell Elite. The quality of play sucks. Most fans do not have the luxury of watching TB12 every Sunday. That is why people are not watching as much NFL Football and potentially not ordering as much Papa Johns.
